In 2000 B.C., the ancient Egyptians ruled the world. Their revered symbol was the falcon. Sometimes called Horus the king, the falcon is represented as protecting, intelligent, and fast as lightning. Its effigy was often painted on the ceilings of tombs and over temple doorways in Egypt.
Today, Martin Braun wanted to design a watch that symbolized great strength and power, while harking back to the ancient times of yesteryear. The striking chronograph has a certain feeling of strength.
The rotor is a rotating mandala of the falcon’s feathers. The mandala represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself. Describing both material and non-material realities, the mandala appears in all aspects of life: the celestial circles we call earth, sun and moon, as well as conceptual circles of friends, family and community.
The stainless steel 44 millimeter columnized case is a masterpiece of engineering. The CNC machine takes 45 minutes to properly cut out the design on just one lug of the Falcon Claw case. With its hexagonal screwed-down crown and alternating sand-blasted and highly-polished surgical stainless steel columns, the finish on this Falcon Claw is striking.
