Nearly a decade in the making, the EOS is an extraordinary timepiece that displays the exact times of the sunrise and sunset at the wearer’s geographical location. Named for the Greek goddess of the sunrise, the inspirational EOS model is truly a muse in disguise. Customized for the owner in Martin Braun’s Swiss factory, the timepiece is carefully assembled for the specific locality of its new owner. A register on either side of the dial displays the local times of sunrise and sunset, indicated by the striking crossed hands that are directed to the correct position by the visible eccentric cams located at the bottom of the dial.

This complication is made possible by a 48-piece module that master watchmaker Martin Braun has added to his own in-house movement Caliber MAB 88. Years of development in Braun’s ateliers have honed this instrument to the finely tuned mechanism it has now become.

The EOS offers more than just extraordinary mechanics – it also offers extraordinary visuals in the same non-ostentatious manner. While quietly carving out its niche among the classic models in fine watchmaking, this timepiece is and remains an easily identifiable member of the Martin Braun collection. The 18-karat rose gold coin-edged case, 39 or 42 millimeters in diameter, is the perfect size for comfortable wear in any situation. This case was designed by Martin Braun himself and contains a lavish 122 half-circles cut into the middle section to form the fluting. The large oignon-style crown permits user-friendly gripping ease and also remains comfortable against the wrist due to its silky contours. Different from other models in the collection, yet distinctly Martin Braun, is the innovative dial garnishing the EOS. A guilloché pattern originates at the bottom of the dial, at the double “sun” formed by the eccentric cams, and radiates upward across the dial, depicting a radiant sunburst. This theme is also continued on the back of the watch, where the sapphire crystal exhibition case back makes it easy to the see the rotor proudly displaying Braun’s sunburst logo.

This EOS timepiece is crafted in 18-karat rose gold, the classic gold of watchmaking, and is available in either 39 or 42 millimeter sizes. The dial is dominated by two sets of 18-karat rose gold hands, and both the crown and rotor have also been created from 18-karat rose gold. The eccentric cams that power the hands indicating the times on the sunrise and sunset registers are each plated in different 18-karat golds; yellow gold for the rising sun and rose gold for the setting sun.

The EOS in rose gold is delivered on a beautiful alligator skin strap attached to the lugs by screws instead of pins for added security. The solid 18-karat rose gold buckle was designed by Martin Braun and is engraved with his logo.
